Nyx Médiathèque privacy policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026.
Nyx Médiathèque ("Nyx") is an app published by DIVIN IT, for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Android, Android TV and Windows. It is a player for a personal media library: it connects to a Nyx server that you choose — your own, or one a relative invites you to.
What DIVIN IT collects
Nothing. Nyx contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party measurement service. DIVIN IT receives no data about you or about what you watch. Only notifications go through a third-party service, Apple's or Google's: see "Notifications". The stores (App Store, Google Play) may send DIVIN IT anonymous download statistics and crash reports, depending on your device settings.
What stays on your device
- The server address and the access it gave you (token, device credential), in the system vault: the Keychain on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV; encrypted with an Android Keystore key, which never leaves the phone, on Android; the Windows Credential Manager.
- Your preferences (languages, genres, playback settings), the cached catalogue, and the films you download to watch offline.
Deleting the app erases this data, with three exceptions: on iPhone, the access kept in the Keychain may remain; on Mac, the data stays in the app's folder (Library › Containers) until you delete it; on Windows, the access kept in the Credential Manager remains, and so does the app's folder (preferences, cache), unless you tick "Delete the application data" when uninstalling. On Android, this data is not included in your Google account backup, nor in the transfer to a new phone. Everywhere, "Se déconnecter" (sign out) or "Changer de serveur" (change server) first erases the server address and its token.
If you scan a code inside Nyx — that of a device you are linking to your account, that of an already linked device whose account you are joining, or an invitation — the camera reads it on your device: no image is kept or sent, only the code's link is used, and nothing is sent before you confirm.
What is sent to the server you chose
To work, Nyx exchanges with your Nyx server:
- your account: the name you choose, your favourite genres and languages;
- what you watch: progress, watched titles, your ratings;
- your device name and, if you accept notifications, the notification address provided by Apple or Google;
- your recommendations, requests and "Watch together" sessions, if you use them.
That server is run by the person who opened it for you, not by DIVIN IT, and they are responsible for it.
Notifications
If you accept them, your server sends you its notifications — a request that arrived, a new episode, an invitation — through your device's service: Apple's on iPhone, iPad and Mac, Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android. That service receives the notification text and an address specific to your device, and handles them under its own privacy policy. Nyx uses no other Firebase service: no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising. You can turn notifications off at any time in Nyx or in your device settings. On Windows, Nyx itself shows a notification for a "Watch together" invitation while it runs in the background, without any third-party service; Apple TV receives none.
Signing in with Plex
If you choose to sign in with your Plex account, Nyx shows a code that you confirm on plex.tv. Plex then receives this device's sign-in request, under its own privacy policy. Your Plex password never goes through Nyx.
Details and images
Details, posters and portraits come from your server, which may obtain them from TMDB. Nyx uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
The demonstration server
For App Store and Google Play review, DIVIN IT runs a demonstration server that only contains freely licensed films. Accounts created there are test accounts, with no data other than the chosen name and what is watched. They are erased regularly.
Your rights
Your account data lives on the server you use: the person in charge of it can access, correct or delete it on request. For any question about the app itself: marcb@divinit.fr.
